Tendaba (2 days)
Follow me up river for a two day trip to the well know Tendaba Camp. This is a great opportunity to see birds, dragonflies, butterflies and various mammals.
Accomodation: Rooms at Tendaba range from basic to more luxurious with sea views and air conditioning.
Birds you might see: Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Bronze-winged Courser, Goliath Heron , Blue Flycatcher, African Finfoot, Pel’s Fishing Owl, Temminck’s Courser , Standard-winged Nightjar. More common birds will be seen as well. It may also be possible to see some animals such as Patas monkeys, troops of Guinea Baboons, Warthog, Antelope and others.

This is included: Transport, lunch, dinner, bed and breakfast, boat trip and my guiding service.
DAY ONE:
Pick up from your hotel at 7:30am (or time of your choice). On our drive to Tendaba we will be stopping at several birding sites on route such as Bamakuno forest, Bulock rice field, Kampanti along with other rice fields, peanut fields and marshes. We will see several raptors and possibly Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Temminck’s Courser, Long-tailed and Standard-winged Nightjars plus many other birds. Additionally we should see several dragonflies and butterflies and various mammals. We will arrive at Tendaba lodge in time for dinner.
DAY TWO:
After breakfast (7:00 am ), we will take the boat trip to the famous Tendaba‘s creeks, Tunku and Kissi bolongs. This boat trip takes about 3 and a half hours so we will be back at the camp at about 10:30am. Numerous birds will be seen today and these may include – Goliath Heron, African Finfoot, Fairy blue Flycatcher, White-backed Night Heron, White-breasted Cormorant, Martial Eagle and a variety of pelicans. Pel’s Fishing Owl may be possible. After the boat trip we will wander up in the hills behind the primary red school of Tendaba for about one and a half hours looking for the Bronze-winged Courser, White-shouldered Black Tit, Browned-rumped Bunting, Chestnut-back Sparrow Lark, Red-winged Warbler, Grey-headed Bush-shrike, Four-banded Sandgrouse, and many more. We may also encounter some butterflies like Darker Commodore plus Guinea fowl, Diadem and other faunas.
Early afternoon we will set off on our trip back home. On route we will visit more sites hoping to see birds that we may have missed, arriving back at the hotel around 6:00pm.
